Cell phone without battery

Hello friends, my name is Arjun Gupta and today we see "A CELL PHONE WITHOUT BATTERY".

Introduction-

UW  engineers have designed the first battery free cellphone that can send and receive calls using a few microwatts of power.

Phone company or manufacturers are continuously trying to create a new technology that can run long on a single battery charge but the team of engineering at the University of Washington (UW) has gone the extra step: They create a cell phone that does not need a battery to run cell phone basic function like calling obviously.

The phone created by the engineers of UW does not look like original cell phone. It is a simple printed circuit board with the basic functionality of calling, including a microphone, number pad and headphone jack. But this typical circuit phone did not give you the feel of a real phone, but you do not have to worry about battery dead problem.

Working of Battery-less cell phone-

This is still uses the electricity, it just generates the energy from sources like sunlight and radio waves. the team of UW uses photo-diode to absorb the photon from the light and generate the electricity. To generate electricity from the radio signal, the just need an antenna. When radio waves make contact with the antenna, the waves combine with the electricity to flow through the antenna. Yes, it is true, you can actually generates electricity through radio waves.

While radio waves carry energy and we are surrounded by transmitter, which generates waves, this does not mean that you could power your all electronic appliances by attaching antenna to them, because radio wave propagation follow the inverse law- This law trying to say that, strength of radio signal decreases with the increasing in the distance, which means that the phone does not work when it is very far from the transmitter or radio wave generator.

For making a phone call requires continuous power to the device, if not then your phone automatically disconnect the call, the total amount of power gather from the radio and light is about 1 or 10 microwatts. Thus it is the main problem for the engineer is to continuous connect phone with radio signal.

To overcome this problem, the team designed a base station that generates RF signal to the cell phone, so with help of the base station and photo diode, the phone can operate from the distance of 15 meter. Making a call is simple. You just punch in the phone number you want to call and the circuit board sends this information via radio waves to the base station in a digital packet. The base station takes this data and makes a call on Skype to a cellular network. The station continues to remain in contact with the phone via radio waves, allowing the caller to hear the other side of the conversation. To speak, you just have to hold down a button to activate the microphone.

Hope this information helps you to initiate your knowledge in another topic "CELL PHONE WITHOUT BATTERY", if any question or suggestion, please COMMENT and please don't forget to FOLLOW(Click on the follow word, to follow my blog).

  1. Yaa, tis pretty good idea that cell phone without battery but have to continuously operate phone is a big deal yarr... and what 'bout RF source tis inbuilt the phone ...??

  2. No,RF transmitter is not fix in the phone, the team construct a base station through which RF signal is ejected, because of this phone get the energy to operate.
Thank for your valuable comment,Karan Gupta

HOW TOUCH DISPLAY WORKS

Hello friends, my name is Arjun Gupta and today we learn about " HOW TOUCH DISPLAY WORKS ". Introduction- The present state of technologies in the world of electronics is that every electronic product got the touch display, which helps to operate this thing with ease. But have you wonder, how the touch display works, if yes, then great but if no, then do not worry, this blog will help you to learn, how to touch display works. The touchscreen is an input device so it should be combined with a computer and display device. Touchscreen basically includes- --> Touch screen sensor -->  Controller -->  Software driver What are the different types of technologies used in touch screen are:- 1.  Resistive touchscreen 2.  Capacitive touchscreen 3.  Surface Acoustic Wave(SAW) 4.  Infrared led touch screen Resistive touchscreen The resistive touch screen is made up of several flexible layers coated with t...

E-Sim card...

Hello friends,my name is Arjun Gupta and today we see "E-Sim card, the future of sim card ". What is ESIM? When ESIM becomes available, it will be an electronic SIM card that will not depend on the old method of presenting the device to work; It will already be made in the device. This is a new standard from GSM, and this information is going to be rewritten or polite by all operators. As we know, the SIM card can end soon. There is a new SIM in the city, and it wants to make the switching carrier much easier for everyone. Apple and Samsung are meant to get rid of physical SIM, but this is not just them. Other companies like AT & T, China Unicom, Verizon, Vodafone, and Orange are for ESIM. We have to see what is behind this ESIM and if everything is as good as they seem to be. Benefits of ESIM The advantage of introducing ESIM users is that when we want to switch carriers or data plans within our existing carrier, it is going to make things a lot eas...

Conductive plastic

Hello friends, my name is Arjun Gupta and today we learn about "Conductive plastic". If I say what is a conductor, you will say, those who conduct electricity or if, I say what is an insulator, you will say, those who don't conduct electricity, and the last one is semiconductor which acquires both the property of conductor and insulator, at a certain temperature. Many years ago, the conductive plastic was discovered  "Accidentally" by USA scientists. The conductive plastic is flexible in nature as well as show conductive property. Example of conductive plastic is PEDOT .          poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) This technology helps to make flexible phone and T.V. and many more electronic products. Conductive plastic is usually used in ESD (electrostatic discharge) control, as well as ATEX (explosive atmosphere) and EMI (electromagnetic interference) shield applications. Other uses of conductive plastics include prevention of metal rep...
